Today, the archdiocese is a relatively new building and destroyed the last of June 1974 in an attempt to assassinate the President of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios. The huge statue out front of the building is the aforementioned ex-President Archbishop Makarios.

The Archdiocese of Cyprus or otherwise Archdiocese of New Justinian and Cyprus belong to the Church of Cyprus which is an autocephalous Orthodox Church. Has Episcopal District, which covers areas around the home and are mainly in Nicosia. Founder and first patron was the Primate of St. Barnabas in 45 AD

The seat of the Archdiocese located in Old Nicosia Cyprus opposite the school. The Archbishop has a long history which is intertwined with the history of the island, national struggles and sacrifices for this is also the title of Archbishop.
